How to buy a Mattress? (Part 01/04)
This is a four part series of a mattress sales man on “How to buy the right mattress?” Definitely recommended for everyone who is about to buy his/her mattress for the first time.
He talks mainly about the different types of mattresses and why buying the right mattress is important for consumers. Summarizing what this part of the series is about,
• Though ALL mattresses are made to support certain consumers, but you have to make sure it is not too soft or too firm for your need. This depends mainly on your posture while sleeping.
• Depending on the way you sleep should really make your decision on the kind of mattress you need. Most people completely ignore this important aspect and some even are unaware of they way they sleep. They just lay down thinking about the bills they have to pay, their child’s education and what not. But it is EXTREMELY important. In today’s word, mattresses are designed to suit the way people sleep.
• Three general mattress industry terms on comfort levels for inner spring mattresses:
- a firm bed.
- Plush bed; softer than the first category but not exactly soft.
- Pillow soft mattress; soft in the truest sense.
• Generally a back sleeper sleeps best on a plush mattress.
• A side sleeper sleeps best on a pillow soft mattress. This is because when you sleep on your side, your body is more curved and needs support on all points. A pillow soft mattress ensures this support by adjusting to the shape of your body. It provides more cushion than the plush mattress.
When you go to the store to purchase a mattress, try one of each mattress types. And try lying down on your back, stomach and your side to have a perfect comparison before you make your final decision.
Mattress Queen Lesson for today: Pay attention to how you sleep. Know your sleeping posture before you buy a mattress else the sales man will surely sell you the most expensive piece he has in pursuit of higher commissions. Plus, when you really think about it, buying a mattress without knowing such basic information is like buying a manual geared car when you have only drove automatic all your life.
Hope this information helps. Comments and questions are welcome on the Mattress Queen "About Us" page.
